Two managers, Johann and David, both recently applied for promotion within their organisation. Unfortunately neither of them was successful. Afterwards Johann was depressed and angry about the outcome. He moaned to his colleagues in the office and was snappy with his family at home. Conversely David decided that although he didn’t get promoted the interview had been good experience. He asked for feedback on his performance, sought advice from his colleagues and decided that promotion was a challenge he must prepare for in the future.
